Recap: Hamilton Braves vs. South Fork Cubs

If the Hamilton Braves were feeling good off their 66-37 takedown of the Plumas Charter Warriors last Saturday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Hamilton took a 57-43 bruising from South Fork on Thursday. While losing is never fun, Hamilton can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 1054th, while South Fork is ranked 407th).

Several Braves players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Kayden Strong, who scored 16 points. Strong scored a full 37.2% of Hamilton's points, the fourth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Caden Stickney was another key contributor, scoring 11 points.

Hamilton's defeat dropped their record down to 3-7. As for South Fork, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 10-3 record this season.

Hamilton will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Maxwell at 8:00 p.m. on January 9, 2024. Maxwell knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past seven matches -- so hopefully Hamilton likes a good challenge. South Fork won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Chester on December 29th.
