Baseball Recap: Stevenson Finds Home Field Redemption Against Warren Township

There's no place like home for Stevenson, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Saturday. They came out on top against the Warren Township Blue Devils by a score of 6-2 on Monday. The win continues a trend for the Patriots in their matchups with the Blue Devils: they've now won four in a row.

Frank Costabile made a splash while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out six over five innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in ten consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with one run and one double.

In other batting news, Stevenson let Kosuke Sakamoto and Matteo Nolasco run wild. Sakamoto went 2-for-4 with two runs and two doubles, while Nolasco went a perfect 2-for-2 with one run and one RBI. Sakamoto is becoming a predictor of Stevenson's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 6-1 (and 6-13 when he doesn't).

Stevenson hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their strikeout total in three consecutive contests.

Stevenson's record now sits at 12-14. As for Warren Township, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 14-9.

Stevenson will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Blue Devils: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:45 p.m. on Tuesday.
