Basketball Recap: John Paul II's Undefeated Season over After Five Games

John Paul II lost against Great Hearts Northern Oaks back in November of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Guardians fell 71-63 to the Griffins. The contest marked the Guardians' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

Despite the loss, John Paul II still got an impressive performance from Marcus Taylor, who dropped a double-double with 28 points and 14 rebounds. Taylor is also on a roll when it comes to field goal percentage, as he's posted one of at least 46% in the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Breshun Wilson, who posted 14 points and six steals.

Great Hearts Northern Oaks found their leader in sophomore Lawrence Fields, who went 5-for-7 en route to 34 points and six boards.

Having lost for the first time this season, John Paul II fell to 4-1. As for Great Hearts Northern Oaks, they have started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it.

Looking ahead, John Paul II will be playing at home against San Marcos at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Great Hearts Northern Oaks, they are taking a road trip to face off against Holy Cross at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
