Football Game Preview: Stanton Blue Devils vs. West Nassau Warriors

Two dominant backs in David Honroe and Smo Green are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Stanton Blue Devils will take on the West Nassau Warriors at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Stanton has given up an average of 28.9 points per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Stanton is headed into the contest out to prove that what happened against Space Coast on Friday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. The Blue Devils were beaten by the Vipers 49-0. Considering the last time the Blue Devils couldn't score was back in September, the team can't take the result too hard.

Meanwhile, West Nassau entered their tilt with Dixie County on Friday with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. They blew past the Bears, posting a 54-12 win. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Warriors' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Florida football rankings (they are ranked 167th, while the Bears are ranked 493rd).

Stanton better keep an eye on Avery Griffin. He was instrumental in West Nassau's win, rushing for 64 yards on only five carries, while also catching one TD.

West Nassau was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 266 rushing yards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Dixie County only rushed for 139.

West Nassau didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Bryceton Hodges, Nate Batrous, and Seth Gentry picked up one apiece. Batrous got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

West Nassau's victory bumped their record up to 9-1. As for Stanton, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-5.
