Prince George's County 4A recap Oct. 16, 2012
Bowie was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from 10th to seventh in Prince George's County 4A. Earlier in the week, the Bulldogs defeated Bladensburg 26-14.
Wise extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Parkdale, 52-0. The win marks seventh in a row for the the Pumas.
Gerald Sawyer was the best wideout in the league this week as Northwestern beat Laurel. Sawyer tallied one reception for 48 yards. John Johnson helped Northwestern's passing attack out by catching two balls for 23 yards.
Isaiah Black put up the best numbers through the air as Wise bested the Panthers. He finished with a total of six completions for 113 yards and two touchdowns. Black's favorite target this week was Chase Powell, who caught one pass for 35 yards.
Darius Victor was the most productive running back in Prince George's County 4A this week. In 14 carries, he ran for 289 yards as the Wildcats beat the Spartans. Teammate Johnson added to the ground attack by rushing for 62 yards.
Northwestern's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Wildcats feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Jovantae Seard has thrown for 473 yards and three touchdowns this season, while Johnson has 14 catches for 184 yards. Victor leads the league in rushing with 1140 yards.
Powell of the DaLawn Parrish's team is only 57 yards short of surpassing 1,000 rushing yards for the season. Powell has rushed for 943 yards on 79 carries so far this year.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Suitland takes on the Mustangs. At the moment, the Rams are in second, while Bladensburg is in eighth.
The Pumas took down Parkdale 52-0 last week, the largest margin of any game. Black ran for 41 yards in the win.
