Basketball Recap: Harlan Comes Up Short

The Harlan Hawks came up short against the Beaumont United Timberwolves on Friday and fell 65-58.

Despite the defeat, Harlan saw an underclassman step up: freshman London Jackson almost dropped a double-double with 32 points and nine boards. Another player making a difference was Amoni Francis, who shot 47% from the field to rack up 16 points along with eight rebounds and five blocks.

Payton Jones was his usual excellent self, going 12-for-21 on his way to 31 points and six steals for Beaumont United. Jones is crushing it when it comes to points: he's scored at least 15 every time he's taken the court this season. Ephriam Moore was another key player, putting up ten points and five boards.

Harlan's loss dropped their record down to 3-2. As for Beaumont United, the win keeps them at an undefeated 5-0.

Harlan has already played their next game, a 56-47 victory against Cypress Park on the 29th. As for Beaumont United, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 69-64 win against Washington-Marion on the 29th.
