Recap: Classical Prep Lions vs. Berkeley Prep Buccaneers
If the Classical Prep Lions were riding high off their 57-15 takedown of the Brandon Academy Scorpions last Wednesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Classical Prep received a tough blow on Tuesday as they fell 55-37 to Berkeley Prep. If Classical Prep hoped to take revenge for the 41-29 defeat against they when the teams met, then they were left disappointed.
Despite the loss, Classical Prep still got an impressive performance from Kaelyn Malloy, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 12 rebounds. That was a full 51.4% of Classical Prep's points, marking the fourth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Classical Prep's defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 9-5. As for Berkeley Prep, their victory bumped their record up to 4-10.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Classical Prep will face off against Solid Rock Community at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Solid Rock Community comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 19 points in their last five games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse. Berkeley Prep won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Gulf at 7:30 p.m. on January 24th. Hopefully Gulf focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 35 last Friday.
