Basketball Game Preview: Ponte Vedra Sharks vs. Bartram Trail Bears + How To Watch

The Ponte Vedra Sharks will take on the Bartram Trail Bears at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Ponte Vedra took a loss when they played away from home on Tuesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Monday. They walked away with a 66-59 victory over University Christian. The win continues a trend for the Sharks in their matchups with the Christians: they've now won three in a row.

Maddox Palmer had another great game (as he tends to do), dropping a double-double with 27 points and 15 rebounds. His big performance that evening made it seven games in a row in which he has scored at least 18 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ryan Speace, who went 5-for-11 to rack up 15 points.

Meanwhile, Bartram Trail suffered their closest defeat since December 6, 2024 last Friday. They fell just short of Orange Park by a score of 62-59. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game two weeks ago (56), the Bears still had to take the loss.

Ponte Vedra will have to contain Darian Wright as he made an impact in Bartram Trail's last game. He almost dropped a double-double with 19 points and nine boards. Another player making a difference was James Humphries, who shot 71% from the field en route to 10 points and eight rebounds.

Ponte Vedra now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Bartram Trail, their loss dropped their record down to 1-1.

Everything came up roses for Ponte Vedra against Bartram Trail when the teams last played back in December of 2024, as the team secured a 56-29 victory. Will the Sharks repeat their success, or do the Bears have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
