Football Recap: Neville Tigers vs. Covington Lions
With a playoff game on the line, Neville rose to the challenge on Friday. They claimed a resounding 44-13 victory over the Covington Lions. The game was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 28-6.
Jaylon Nichols was his usual excellent self, rushing for 119 yards and three touchdowns. That's the most rushing yards he has posted since back in September. Jayson Parker got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.
Neville didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Cameron Riley and Parker.
Neville pushed their record up to 10-1 with the win, which was their sixth straight at home. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 37.7 points per game. As for Covington, their loss dropped their record down to 9-3.
Neville will challenge Chalmette on Friday. Chalmette will roll in looking for their seventh straight victory, something Neville surely won't give up without a fight. Covington does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
