Recap: Northridge Grizzlies vs. Skyline Falcons
In what's become a running theme this season, the Northridge Grizzlies gave their fans yet another huge win on Tuesday. They blew past Skyline 59-29 at home. Given Northridge's advantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 85th, while Skyline is ranked 225th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Northridge found their leader in underclassman Sophia Carbajal, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 11 rebounds. Jillyin Fulton was another key contributor, scoring 12 points.
When it comes to explaining why Skyline lost, one person who can't be blamed is Aiyana Dothard. Despite the final result, she scored eight points.
The win makes it two in a row for Northridge and bumps their season record up to 8-5. As for Skyline, they are on a eight-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-11.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Northridge will face off against Thompson Valley at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. That game will pit two of the most dominant against one another: Paige Wagner and Carbajal. Skyline's road trip will continue as they head out to face Roosevelt at 5:30 p.m. on January 25th. Roosevelt knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past 12 contests -- so hopefully Skyline likes a good challenge.
