Baseball Recap: Broomfield Drops Season-High Score on Boulder

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Broomfield). Everything went their way against the Boulder Panthers on Monday as they made off with a 14-2 victory. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest win of the season.

Nate Wochner looked comfortable as he tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Talan Hutchings was a standout: he scored two runs while going 2-for-2. He also hit a double, marking his first of the season. Caden Williamson was another key player, going 2-for-5 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI.

Broomfield was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .467. The last time their batting average was this high was back in April of 2024.

Broomfield is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-2 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.2 runs over those games. As for Boulder, their loss dropped their record down to 3-6.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Broomfield will welcome Erie at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Boulder, they will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against Prairie View at 4:30 p.m. The Thunderhawks will roll in looking for their sixth straight win, something the Panthers surely won't give up without a fight.
