Baseball Recap: Elmwood Park Gets the Win

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Rolling Meadows, Elmwood Park was happy to have turned things around on Tuesday. They came out on top against the Northridge Knights by a score of 6-3.

Mathew Sutherland spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on four hits and racked up seven Ks. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run any time he's pitched this season.

At the plate, Elmwood Park let Leon Solarczyk and Brandon Edgecomb run wild. Solarczyk scored a run while going 1-for-4, while Edgecomb scored a run while going 2-for-3. Another player making a difference was Michael Murphy, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4.

Elmwood Park now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Northridge, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-4.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Elmwood Park will square off against Mather on Monday. As for Northridge, they will take on Westmont at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
