Basketball Recap: Blue River Valley Takes a Loss

Blue River Valley was the 57-50 winner over Randolph Southern when they last played one another back in January of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Blue River Valley Vikings lost 54-31 to the Randolph Southern Rebels on Tuesday.

When it comes to explaining why Blue River Valley lost, don't look at Ella Schmidt. Despite the final result, she posted 22 points. The dominant performance gave Schmidt a new career-high in points.

Randolph Southern's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Haileigh Allen, who earned 14 points in addition to seven rebounds and five steals. Another player making a difference was Joselyn Smith, who went 6 of 9 en route to 14 points along with five boards and four steals.

Blue River Valley has traveled a rocky road recently having lost eight of their last nine games, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-15 record this season. As for Randolph Southern, with the win, they broke their five-game losing streak and moved their record to 11-7.

Blue River Valley has already played their next contest, a 40-29 defeat against Cambridge City Lincoln on the 23rd. Randolph Southern has also already played their next match (against Eastern Hancock), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
