Basketball Game Preview: Intermountain Christian Lions vs. St. Joseph Jayhawks

The Intermountain Christian Lions will look to take advantage of their home court for the first time this season as they take on the St. Joseph Jayhawks at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.

Intermountain Christian is headed into the game out to prove that what happened against Beaver last Saturday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. The Lions were outmatched by the Beavers and fell 70-26. The Lions were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 46-8.

Jackson Smith put forth a good effort for the losing side as he went 8-for-15 on his way to 19 points and five rebounds.

Meanwhile, after only 26 points in their last contest, St. Joseph made sure to put some points up on the board against Freedom Prep Academy on Tuesday. The Jayhawks claimed a resounding 63-21 victory over the Eagles. The Jayhawks have beaten the Eagles the last five times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Eagles has come to flipping the script.

Intermountain Christian better keep an eye on Gauge Donovan. He was instrumental in St. Joseph's win, putting up 25 points. Those 25 points gave Donovan a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Chase Fridberg-Gerlich, who posted 15 points.

Intermountain Christian's loss dropped their record down to 0-2. As for St. Joseph, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-2.

Intermountain Christian came up short against St. Joseph in their previous meeting back in December of 2024, falling 53-43. Thankfully for the Lions, Gavin Wolf (who had 22 points and six boards) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
