Having just played yesterday, the Fredericksburg Billies will jump right back in to play the DaVinci Lions at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday. Both teams are still undefeated (Fredericksburg has four wins , while DaVinci has 20 dating back to last season).
Fredericksburg saw some tournament action on Friday. They strolled past John F. Kennedy with points to spare, taking the game 50-34.
Fredericksburg got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Austin Greene out in front who almost dropped a double-double with 11 points and nine boards. Another player making a difference was Tucker Hale, who posted 11 points.
Fredericksburg smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in seven consecutive contests dating back to last season.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask DaVinci). They took their game on Thursday with ease, bagging an 88-15 win over Poteet. The Lions have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five matchups by 20 points or more this season.
DaVinci's win came from a few key players Fredericksburg will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was RYAN HAYES, who shot 62% from the field en route to 20 points and six steals. His big performance that afternoon made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least 17 points. The team also got some help courtesy of CARSTEN RODRIQEZ, who went 8-for-14 on his way to 19 points and four steals.
DaVinci's victory bumped their record up to 6-0. As for Fredericksburg, their win bumped their record up to 4-0.
Some high-performance offense is likely on the agenda as the two teams are some of the highest-scoring teams around. Fredericksburg hasn't had any problem running up the score this season, having averaged 56.2 points per game. However, it's not like DaVinci struggles in that department as they've been averaging 60 points.
