Football Recap: Franklin Community Takes a Loss

Franklin Community had lost four straight on the road, but on Friday they dropped down to 4-5 to make it five. They had to suffer through a 48-10 loss at the hands of the Decatur Central Hawks. The Grizzly Cubs were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 28-3.

As for Decatur Central, the win was the seventh in a row for them, bringing their record up to 7-2. The victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 11.9 points on average over those games.

Bo Polston had a dynamite game, rushing for 71 yards and two scores, while also throwing for 168 yards and one touchdown while completing 76.2% of his passes. That's the most rushing yards he has posted since back in August.

Franklin Community and Decatur Central are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. After each having a week off, the Grizzly Cubs and East Central will shake off the rust and duke it out at 7:00 p.m. on the 31st. Franklin Community will need to watch out since the Trojans have now posted at least 31 points in their last five contests. As for Decatur Central, they will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against North Central at 7:00 p.m. on the 31st. The Hawks will be up against the Panthers' rather soft defense (which has allowed 44.78 points per matchup), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
