Volleyball Recap: Alivia Alexander's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Pittsfield over Athol

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Pittsfield can now relate to. They fell just short of the Athol Bears by a score of 3-2 on Monday. The Generals were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Bears apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in October of 2024.

Pittsfield took a 2-1 lead headed into the fourth set, but sadly they lost the next two. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-10, 19-25, 23-25, 25-22, 15-8.

Pittsfield's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Alivia Alexander, who had five aces.

Pittsfield dropped their record down to 6-13 with the loss, which was their fifth straight at home. As for Athol, their win ended a five-match drought on the road and puts them at 7-11.

Pittsfield has already played their next contest, a 3-2 victory against Monument Mountain on the 21st. Athol does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
