Softball Game Preview: Homestead Spartans vs. Adams Central Flying Jets

The Homestead Spartans will face off against the Adams Central Flying Jets at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Homestead is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.8 runs per game this season.

Homestead is headed into the match having just suffered their closest loss since May 6, 2024 on Monday. They fell just short of Carroll by a score of 4-2. The Spartans haven't had much luck with the Chargers recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.

Grace Jordan made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Adams Central). They had just enough and edged out New Haven 13-12 on Tuesday. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Flying Jets as it put an end to their six-game losing streak.

The team relied heavily on Izzy Isch, who went 3-for-5 with three doubles, three RBI, and two runs. Those three doubles gave her a new career-high. Lillee Dull was another key player, going 1-for-4 with three runs and two RBI.

Adams Central always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .605. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Homestead's defeat dropped their record down to 15-5. As for Adams Central, their win bumped their record up to 2-11.

Everything went Homestead's way against Adams Central in their previous matchup back in May of 2024, as Homestead made off with a 12-2 victory. Will the Spartans repeat their success, or do the Flying Jets have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
