Football Recap: Cleveland Takes Loss Despite Strong Performances from Erick Cervantes and Haydn Gerlott + How To Watch

Cleveland lost against Pennington back in September of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Panthers lost 40-19 to the Tigers.

Despite the defeat, Cleveland had strong showings from Haydn Gerlott, who rushed for 112 yards, and Erick Cervantes, who picked up 84 receiving yards and one TD.

Pennington's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Connor Timmerman, who rushed for 130 yards on only 13 carries, and also threw for 179 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only 16 passes. Timmerman also put in work on the defensive side of the ball, making three total tackles and defending two passes. Aidan McAlpin was in the mix too, providing Pennington with two scores.

Cleveland now has a losing record of 2-3. As for Pennington, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 4-2.

Coming up, Cleveland will be playing at home against Coosa Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Panthers' defense better be ready for this one: the Conquerors have averaged an impressive 31.5 points per game this season. As for Pennington, they will head out on the road to square off against Saks at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Tigers are facing the Wildcats at the right time seeing as the Wildcats are stuck on a five-game losing streak.
