Softball Recap: Collinsville Kahoks vs. Belleville West Maroons
Collinsville extended their losing streak to nine on Thursday, dropping their season record down to 4-13 in the process. They came up short against the Belleville West Maroons, falling 18-0. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Maroons this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 11-2 back in April.
Collinsville saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Faith Fairchild, who went 1-for-2 with one double.
As for Belleville West, the win got them back to even at 9-9. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
On Belleville West's side, Kara Kramer looked comfortable as she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out seven over four innings pitched. With that strong performance, Kramer is now averaging an impressive 5.1 strikeouts per game.
On the hitting side, Daijah Jackson was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with three runs, four RBI, and one triple. That triple was her first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Makenna Anderson, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI.
Coming up, Collinsville will be playing in front of their home fans against Alton at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Belleville West, they will venture away from home to challenge Civic Memorial at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
