1A Region 7 recap October 8, 2013
Valley Head extended the longest winning streak in 1A Region 7 this week by beating Coosa Christian, 47-0. The victory was the sixth in a row for the team.
Collinsville made the biggest leap in the national rankings this week, rising to 11,955 from 12,304. The improvement was the result of a 21-19 victory over Cedar Bluff last week.
Gaylesville's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Trojans feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Cole Murphy has thrown for 179 yards and 2 touchdowns this season, while Dylan Mitchell has 5 catches for 81 yards.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Spring Garden takes on the Panthers. As it stands, the Panthers are in fifth, while Collinsville is in second.
Gaylesville led the league in scoring this week after putting up 58 points on Jacksonville Christian Academy. Gage Davis ran for 189 yards in the win.
