Recap: Lincoln Trojans vs. Florida State University High School Seminoles
The Lincoln Trojans came tearing into Thursday's game with five straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 31.4 points) and they left with even more momentum. They snuck past Florida State University High School with a 58-54 victory. Given Lincoln's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 106th, while Florida State University High School is ranked 222nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Lincoln to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jamia Brown, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and ten rebounds. Brown has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Jamiya Brown, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 12 rebounds.
Lincoln's victory was their eighth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 15-3. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.5 points per game. As for Florida State University High School, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost four of their last five matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-13 record this season.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Lincoln will take on Godby at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday. That game will pit two of the most dominant guards against one another: Kenijah Clayton and Brown. As for Florida State University High School, they the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome Leon at 7:00 p.m. on January 24th.
