Basketball Recap: Pharr-San Juan-Alamo North Comes Up Short

After flying high against Carroll on Friday, Pharr-San Juan-Alamo North came back down to earth. The Raiders fell 40-36 to the Clark Cougars on Saturday. The loss continues a trend for the Raiders in their meetings with the Cougars: they've now lost three in a row.

Despite the loss, Pharr-San Juan-Alamo North still got an impressive performance from Mason Lopez, who went 10-for-21 to rack up 28 points in addition to six rebounds and three steals. That was a full 77.8% of the Raiders' points, marking the fourth time in a row Lopez has posted more than a third of the team's points. Ryan Casas was another key player, putting up three points and three steals.

Leading Clark to victory were Shae McCarty and Tristan Lewis. McCarty put up eight points, while Lewis had eight points. Lewis continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Devante Sutton also deserves some recognition as he grabbed his first steal of the season.

Pharr-San Juan-Alamo North's record now sits at 4-3. As for Clark, the win made it two in a row for them and also bumps their season record up to 4-3.

Pharr-San Juan-Alamo North wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 35-30 victory against Rivera on the 22nd. As for Clark, they have also already played their next game, a 57-54 win against Edinburg on the 22nd.
