Basketball Game Preview: Valley Christian Defenders vs. Village Christian Crusaders

Valley Christian hasn't had much luck against Village Christian recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Valley Christian Defenders will head out to face off against the Village Christian Crusaders at 6:30 p.m. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Valley Christian got their first taste of in-conference action this week and they started things off strong. They had just enough and edged Whittier Christian out 52-49. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Defenders.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Village Christian). They really took it to Whittier Christian for the full four quarters, racking up a 100-44 win. With the Crusaders ahead 68-26 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.

Village Christian's victory was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 10-8. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 80.8 points per game. As for Valley Christian, their win bumped their record up to 10-12.

Valley Christian won a contest that couldn't have been any closer in their previous matchup back in February of 2024, slipping by Village Christian 56-55. The rematch might be a little tougher for Valley Christian since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
