Basketball Recap: Rio Vista Takes a Loss

Rio Vista lost against Goldthwaite last Saturday and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Rio Vista Eagles lost 58-37 to the Goldthwaite Eagles. Rio Vista has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Despite the defeat, Rio Vista saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Clayton Hiett posted 15 points along with five boards and four steals. Those four steals set a new season-high mark for Hiett. Tate Conley was another key player, putting up five points.

Rio Vista's loss dropped their record down to 6-6. As for Goldthwaite, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a nice bump to their 8-4 record this season.

Rio Vista will be playing in front of their home fans against Itasca at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Itasca will roll in looking for their sixth straight win, something Rio Vista surely won't give up without a fight. As for Goldthwaite, they will venture away from home to challenge Junction at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Goldthwaite's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last four matches.
