Basketball Recap: Concord Extends Home Winning Streak to Five

There's no place like home for Concord, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Monday. They skirted past the Quincy Orioles 34-31. The Yellowjackets haven't had any issues with the Orioles recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.

Concord's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Grace Thorrez led the charge by dropping a double-double on 16 points and ten rebounds. Thorrez has been hot, having also posted two or more blocks the last seven times she's played. Cieara Barrett was another key player, putting up eight points and eight boards.

Several Orioles players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Ashlyn Fickle, who posted eight points along with eight rebounds and three steals. Another player making a difference was Deziray Skirka, who had ten points in addition to five boards and four steals.

Concord's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-3. As for Quincy, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-6.

Concord wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 51-41 win against Union City on the 1st. As for Quincy, they have also already played their next game, a 59-12 victory against Maple Valley on the 1st.
