Volleyball Recap: Doniphan-Trumbull Takes a Loss

It was a proper cat-fight when Doniphan-Trumbull took on St. Paul on Thursday. The Cardinals lost 3-0 to the Wildcats. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Cardinals have suffered since September 23rd.

Doniphan-Trumbull was held off the scoreboard, but that almost wasn't the case: they kept the second set very close. The final score came out to 25-13, 25-23, 25-17.

Charlee Richter paced Doniphan-Trumbull's offense, picking up 18 kills. Richter got some help from Laini Rath and her 17 assists. Baylee Larson controlled things from the service line, finishing with two aces.

Leading St. Paul to victory were Delaney Jennings and Keislyn Poss. Jennings had nine digs, while Poss had 15 digs and five assists. That's the most assists Poss has posted over her last seven matches.

Doniphan-Trumbull dropped their record down to 11-13 with the loss, which was their sixth straight on the road. As for St. Paul, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-8 record this season.

Doniphan-Trumbull will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Sandy Creek at 7:00 p.m. on the 20th. As for St. Paul, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 2-0 win against Wisner-Pilger on the 11th.
