Preview: Drew Dragons vs. San Francisco Waldorf Wolverines
The Drew Dragons will head out on the road to square off against the San Francisco Waldorf Wolverines at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday. Hopefully Drew focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 16 on Thursday.
Drew's four-game losing streak came to an end. They enjoyed a cozy 69-50 win over Rise University Prep.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Drew to victory, but perhaps none more so than Teo Kimball-Directo, who scored 17 points along with two steals. Kimball-Directo hasn't dropped below 15points for 19 straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Kian Chan, who scored 14 points along with seven assists.
Meanwhile, San Francisco Waldorf pushed their score all the way to 56 on Thursday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 68-56 hit to the loss column at the hands of International. While losing is never fun, San Francisco Waldorf can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 661st, while International is ranked 325th).
Miles MacDonald put forth a good effort for the losing side as he scored 38 points. That was a full 67.9% of San Francisco Waldorf's points, marking the 13th time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Drew now has a winning record of 12-11. As for San Francisco Waldorf, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 11-9.
Drew lost to San Francisco Waldorf on the road by a decisive 62-44 margin when the teams last played two weeks ago. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of MacDonald, who scored 25 points. Now that Drew knows the damage he can cause, will they be able to stop him this time?
