Basketball Recap: Notus Starts Season with Win on the Road

Notus had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They strolled past the Tri-Valley Titans with points to spare on Tuesday, taking the game 60-42. The Pirates pushed the score to 52-30 by the end of the third, a deficit the Titans cut but never quite recovered from.

Notus' win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Derrick Huter, who posted 22 points and four steals. Those 22 points gave Huter a new career-high. Jonny Lungu was another key player, putting up 18 points and eight boards.

Coming up, Notus will square off against Burns at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday. Tri-Valley will be paying especially close attention to the Pirates' contest: after the Pirates face off against Greenleaf Friends Academy, they'll take on Tri-Valley again at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
