Baseball Recap: NSU University Starts Season with Win at Home

NSU University gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Monday. They were the clear victor by a 15-2 margin over the Saint Andrew's Scots. That's more bragging rights for the Sharks, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Landon Petty looked comfortable as he pitched 3.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. That's the fewest hits he has allowed since back in February of 2024.

On the hitting side, Rocco Rovetto was a standout: he scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3. Bradyn Potter was another key player, going 1-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and two RBI.

NSU University was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .480. The last time their batting average was this high was back in March of 2024.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. NSU University will face off against Community School of Naples at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Saint Andrew's, they will look to take advantage of their home field for the first time this season as they take on Olympic Heights at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. Saint Andrew's is coming into the game on a four-game losing streak dating back to last season.
