Baseball Recap: Kearney Comes Up Short

The Kearney Bearcats didn't have quite enough to beat the Grain Valley Eagles on Thursday and fell 4-3. The Bearcats have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Kearney got a good showing from Owen Waha, who tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit.

On the hitting side, Kearney saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Bryce Andersen, who scored a run while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. Chase Bentz also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.

Kearney now has a losing record of 2-3. As for Grain Valley, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 3-1.

Coming up, Kearney will square off against Columbus at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Grain Valley, it'll be a Battle of the Birds when Grain Valley Eagles duke it out with Liberty Blue Jays at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
