Soccer Game Preview: Jefferson vs. Lima Central Catholic

The Jefferson Wildcats will head out to challenge the Lima Central Catholic Thunderbirds at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Lima Central Catholic will have to contend with a Jefferson team hungry for a victory, something the squad hasn't seen since September 16. Jefferson lost 4-1 to Miller City on Thursday. While losing is never fun, Jefferson can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio soccer rankings (they are ranked 357th, while Miller City is ranked 117th).

Jefferson's goal came courtesy of Kyah Kimmett, who's now up to 22 this season.

Meanwhile, Lima Central Catholic managed to keep up with Lima Senior until halftime on Wednesday, but things quickly went downhill from there. The Thunderbirds came up short against the Spartans, falling 3-0. The defeat continues a trend for Lima Central Catholic in their meetings with Lima Senior: they've now lost three in a row.

Lima Central Catholic's loss dropped their record down to 1-10. As for Jefferson, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-9-1.

Jefferson took their win against Lima Central Catholic in their previous matchup back in October of 2024 by a conclusive 14-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Wildcats since the squad won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
