Softball Recap: Seacrest Country Day Starts off Right with Win over Mason Classical Academy

Seacrest Country Day gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Tuesday. They had just enough and edged out the Mason Classical Academy Paladins 7-6. The Stingrays have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Paladins, too.

Caroline Porter spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and four unearned) runs on four hits and racked up 15 Ks. Those 15 strikeouts gave her a new career-high.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Dailin 'D' Delgado, who went 2-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.

Mason Classical Academy is on a nine-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-2.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Seacrest Country Day will face off against Oasis at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Oasis is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 10 runs per game this season. As for Mason Classical Academy, they will take on Everglades City at 6:00 p.m. on March 4th.
