Softball Recap: North Laurel Starts Season with Victory at Home

North Laurel took care of business in their home opener (and then some) on Thursday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Wayne County Cardinals a 10-0 shutout. The victory continues a trend for the Jaguars in their matchups with the Cardinals: they've now won six in a row.

Tessa Monhollen made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out six over four innings pitched. Monhollen was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 1-for-3.

In other batting news, Morgan Edwards was excellent, scoring a run while going 2-for-3. Another player making a difference was Bella Finley, who scored a run while going 1-for-2.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. North Laurel will take on Lafayette at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Wayne County, they will host Lincoln County at 6:30 p.m. on Monday.
