Basketball Game Preview: Needville Bluejays vs. Bay City Blackcats

Needville is 2-8 against Bay City since December of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Needville Bluejays will be playing at home against the Bay City Blackcats at 6:30 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Needville is headed into Tuesday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fourth straight game on Friday. They were six points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 54-48 heartbreaker at the hands of Columbia.

Loss or not, Needville got some senior leadership from Bohdan Zeitz and Zachary Lyvers. Zeitz went 5 for 11 en route to 13 points, while Lyvers posted eight points and ten rebounds. The dominant performance also gave Lyvers a new career-high in blocks (two). Another player making a difference was Jaydon Ortiz, who put up seven points.

Meanwhile, Bay City was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Friday as they fell 59-55 to Wharton. The Blackcats have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Bay City's defeat dropped their record down to 10-9. As for Needville, their loss dropped their record down to 8-16.

Needville came out on top in a nail-biter against Bay City in their previous matchup back in January, sneaking past 44-42. Does Needville have another victory up their sleeve, or will Bay City turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
