Jackson-Olin and Parker are an even 4-4 against one another since August of 2015, but not for long. The Mustangs will be defending their home field for the first time this season when they go up against the Thundering Herd at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Jackson-Olin has given up an average of 32.4 points per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

On Thursday, Jackson-Olin lost to Carver Birmingham on the road by a 36-20 margin. The Mustangs have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Javion Jones put forth a good effort for the losing side as he picked up 91 receiving yards and one TD. He was no stranger to the big play, cutting upfield on a catch that went for 65 yards.

Meanwhile, Parker faced Hoover in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. The Thundering Herd fell just short of the Buccaneers by a score of 45-42. The close matchup was extra heartbreaking for the Thundering Herd, who almost overcame a 25 point deficit.

Jackson-Olin will need to focus on slowing down Dylan Reese, one of several Parker players who made an impact when they last played. He threw for 238 yards and a pair of touchdowns, and also rushed for 30 yards. Parker's leading receiver Kentrell Davis was Reese's top target yet again, picking up 91 receiving yards and one score.

Parker's loss dropped their record down to 4-2. As for Jackson-Olin, they now have a losing record of 2-3.

Friday's contest might be decided on the ground. Jackson-Olin has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 167.8 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Parker struggles in that department as they've been averaging 193.3 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's game turns into a tough fight on the ground.

Jackson-Olin took a serious blow against Parker in their previous matchup back in October of 2024, falling 56-0. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Reese, who threw for 343 yards and four TDs while completing 76% of his passes. Now that the Mustangs know the damage he can cause, will they be able to stop him this time? There's only one way to find out.
