Basketball Game Preview: Martinsville Artesians vs. Northview Knights

Martinsville hasn't had much luck against Northview recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Martinsville Artesians will venture away from home to face off against the Northview Knights at 7:30 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Martinsville is headed into Tuesday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fifth straight game on Saturday. They had to suffer through a 102-62 loss at the hands of Greenfield-Central. While losing is never fun, the Artesians can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 264th, while the Cougars are ranked seventh).

Meanwhile, Northview had already won seven in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 24.1 points) and they went ahead and made it eight on Friday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Patriots, sneaking past 58-56. The score was all tied up 29-29 at the break, but the Knights were the better team in the second half.

Martinsville's loss dropped their record down to 5-16. As for Northview, they pushed their record up to 21-1 with the victory, which was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season.

Martinsville came up short against Northview in their previous matchup back in February of 2024, falling 58-47. Can Martinsville avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
