Softball Game Preview: Atholton Raiders vs. Howard Lions

Atholton hasn't had much luck against Howard recently, but that could start to change on Monday. Atholton will challenge Howard at 4:00 p.m.

On Saturday, Atholton didn't have quite enough to beat Glen Burnie and fell 8-7.

Tatiana Maltez-Rosales was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. Another player making a difference was Kamryn Marable, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3.

Howard never got on the board in their matchup on Friday, but that sure wasn't the case in their game against Centennial on Saturday. They blew past the Eagles 11-1.

Kiersten Black made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out nine batters over six innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. Black was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jenna Beers, who scored a run while going 2-for-4. Hadley Coleman was another key player, scoring a run while going 3-for-3.

Atholton now has a losing record of 1-2. As for Howard, the victory got them back to even at 1-1.
