Football Recap: Huge Rushing Attack Leads Rowlett over North Garland

Rowlett won the last time they faced North Garland and things went their way on Friday too. The Eagles came out on top against the Raiders by a score of 28-17.

Samuel Loera continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 92 yards and two scores on only 12 carries, while also throwing for 182 yards on 12 of 20 attempts. Those 92 rushing yards gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Kelin Cottrell, who gained 117 total yards and a touchdown.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Rowlett was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 242 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've managed all season.

North Garland's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Chris Hampton, who picked up 182 receiving yards and a pair of touchdowns, and Christian Hampton, who threw for 205 yards and two TDs. Jeremiah Denmark handled things on the ground, rushing for 91 yards.

Rowlett has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a massive bump to their 5-4 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 14.8 points on average over those games. As for North Garland, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-7.

Rowlett wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next matchup, a 42-33 victory against Sachse on the 6th. As for North Garland, they have also already played their next contest, a 22-17 loss against Garland on the 7th.
