Soccer Game Preview: Berea vs. Seneca

The Berea Bulldogs will take on the Seneca Bobcats at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Berea has given up an average of 2.9 goals per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Last Tuesday, Berea came up short against Daniel and fell 5-3. While losing is never fun, Berea can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina soccer rankings (they are ranked 119th, while Daniel are ranked 12th).

Geyser Fabricio Lopez and Owen Ramirez scored all three of Berea's goals, bringing their combined season tally to 11 goals.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Seneca, who bounced back after a loss on the road two weeks ago. They put the hurt on Blue Ridge with a sharp 6-2 win on Tuesday. The contest was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 5-1.

Seneca's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 3-4-1. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 17 goals over those three matchups. As for Berea, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-5-1 record this season.
