The Fairfield Lions have the luxury of staying home for another game and will welcome the South Central Trojans at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.
Fairfield will head into Saturday's contest hoping to keep the good times rolling: they proved they can win big on Monday (they won by ten) but on Saturday they proved they can win the close ones too. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 7-5 win over South Webster.
Wyatt Wiley made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Wiley was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.
In other batting news, Fairfield got a big performance out of Carson Chandler, who scored a run while going 3-for-3. Another player making a difference was Blaine Fauber, who scored a run while going 1-for-2.
Meanwhile, South Central had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They never let Seneca East onto the board and left with a 1-0 victory on Friday. The win was familiar territory for South Central who now have six in a row.
Fairfield's victory was their 11th straight at home, which pushed their record up to 20-4. As for South Central, their win bumped their record up to 17-8.
