Recap: Doniphan-Trumbull Cardinals vs. St. Cecilia Bluehawks
The Doniphan-Trumbull Cardinals waltzed into Friday's match with two straight wins but they left with three. They walked away with a 62-54 victory over St. Cecilia. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Doniphan-Trumbull also won the last time the pair played back in February.
Doniphan-Trumbull found their leader in underclassman Jack Poppe, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 10 rebounds. That makes it two consecutive games in which Poppe has scored at least 25% of Doniphan-Trumbull's points. Another player making a difference was Kaedan Detamore, who scored 11 points along with 5 steals.
Doniphan-Trumbull's victory bumped their record up to 3-0. As for St. Cecilia, they now have a losing record at 1-2.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Doniphan-Trumbull will square off against Kenesaw at 7:45 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Kenesaw focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 12 on Friday. As for St. Cecilia, they will head out on the road to face off against Blue Hill at 2:01 p.m. on Saturday. Blue Hill comes in still looking for their first win of the season.
