Basketball Recap: Hamilton Braves vs. Williams Yellowjackets
Even though the Hamilton Braves have not done well against the Williams Yellowjackets recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. In a tight matchup that could have gone either way, Hamilton made off with a 54-53 win over the Yellowjackets. For Hamilton, this counts as revenge for the 55-49 loss the Yellowjackets walked away with the last time they faced one another back in January.
Hamilton found their leader in underclassman Kayden Strong, who dropped a double-double on 27 points and 12 rebounds. That makes it six consecutive games in which Strong has scored at least a third of Hamilton's points. Another player making a difference was Caden Stickney, who scored eight points along with nine rebounds and seven assists.
Hamilton's victory ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 6-12. As for Williams, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-16.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Hamilton will challenge the Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Los Molinos focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 25 on Friday. As for Williams, they will head out on the road to face off against the Lynx at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. CORE Butte is coming into the matchup on a six-game losing streak.
