NCSSM: Durham had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They blew past the Durham School of the Arts Bulldogs 82-51 on Wednesday. The game was the first time the Unicorns have beaten the Bulldogs on their court since December 13, 2018.

Jay Peng was a one-man wrecking crew as he posted 15 points in addition to seven boards and four steals. Those seven rebounds gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Christopher Chen, who earned 17 points.

Durham School of the Arts lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Shawne Dowdy, who had eight points. Another player making a difference was Justin Bullock, who put up seven points.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. NCSSM: Durham will face off against Chatham Charter at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Durham School of the Arts, they will square off against Excelsior Classical Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
