Preview: Fleming Wildcats vs. McClave Cardinals
The Fleming Wildcats will be playing at home against the McClave Cardinals at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Fleming will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Colorado Rankings (they are ranked 290th, while McClave is ranked 75th).
Fleming struggled with threes on Saturday (Genoa-Hugo/Karval had six more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Fleming fell to Genoa-Hugo/Karval 50-44. Fleming has not had much luck with Genoa-Hugo/Karval recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.
David Betley put forth a good effort for the losing side as he dropped a double-double on 19 points and 11 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Travis Johnson, who scored 12 points along with five rebounds and four steals.
Meanwhile, McClave entered their tilt with Kit Carson with five consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with six. McClave blew past Kit Carson, posting a 72-30 victory at home. McClave has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five matchups by 28 points or more this season.
Fleming has not been sharp recently as the team's lost eight of their last nine matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-11 record this season. As for McClave, their victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-4.
