Football Recap: Rocco Sestito and Will Wood Secure Win for Xaverian Brothers + How To Watch

It's playoff time, and Xaverian Brothers had no trouble coming through when it counted. They enjoyed a cozy 36-22 victory over the Central Golden Eagles on Saturday. This was a revenge game for the Hawks: when they faced off against the Golden Eagles back in September, they had to take a 28-20 defeat.

Leading Xaverian Brothers to victory were Will Wood and Rocco Sestito. Wood threw for 208 yards and four touchdowns, while Sestito gained 137 total yards. The dominant performance also gave Wood a new career-high in rushing yards (58).

Xaverian Brothers' run defense was locked in: Central could only muster 1.3 yards per carry. The Hawks' ground attack was stronger, having averaged 4.8.

Xaverian Brothers didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Jonathan Etienne and Christan McIntyre. McIntyre has been hot recently, having also posted two or more receiving touchdowns the last three times he's played.

Xaverian Brothers' win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 9-2. Those road victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 14.7 points on average over those games. As for Central, their loss ended a nine-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 9-2.

Coming up, Xaverian Brothers will host St. John's Prep at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday. The Hawks will need to watch out since the Eagles have now posted at least 31 points every time they've taken the field this season. Central does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
