Volleyball Recap: Sotomayor Picks Up Third Consecutive Win

Sotomayor proved they can win big on Tuesday (they won by three) and on Friday they proved they can win the close ones too. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Stevens Falcons 3-2. This was a revenge game for the WILDCATS: when they faced off against the Falcons back in September, they had to take a 3-0 defeat.

Sotomayor was staring down a 2-1 deficit headed into the fourth set, but they rallied to take the next two for the win. The match finished with set scores of 18-25, 25-22, 18-25, 25-15, 16-14.

Sotomayor got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Marina Soliz out in front who had 27 digs and eight assists. Those eight assists gave Soliz a new career-high. Zoey Aguayo was another key player, getting 11 digs and three aces.

The win was the third in a row for Sotomayor, bringing their record up to 19-18. As for Stevens, they dropped their record down to 23-15 with the loss, which was their fourth straight at home.

Sotomayor wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 3-2 victory against Taft on the 14th. As for Stevens, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 3-0 defeat against Harlan on the 14th.
