It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but La Cueva had no problem doing just that on Wednesday. They were the clear victors by a 5-1 margin over the Hobbs Eagles. Considering La Cueva have won 11 matches by more than two goals this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

They hit Hobbs with a three-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Winston Starr (3), Isaac Martinez, and Christian Gerhardt.

La Cueva is on a roll lately: they've won 15 of their last 16 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-1-2 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 71 goals over those 16 contests. As for Hobbs, with the loss, they broke their five-match winning streak and moved their record to 16-6-1.

Looking ahead, La Cueva will face off against Rio Rancho at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. Hobbs does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
