Basketball Game Preview: Casey-Westfield Warriors vs. Brownstown Bombers

The Casey-Westfield Warriors and the Brownstown Bombers will compete for holiday cheer at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Last Thursday, Casey-Westfield sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 31-29 win over Red Hill. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Warriors.

Lucy Moore and Julia Eckerty were among the main playmakers for Casey-Westfield as the former posted 14 points in addition to five boards and three steals and the latter put up two points along with seven assists, seven boards, and three steals. That makes it four consecutive games in which Moore has scored at least a third of Casey-Westfield's points.

Meanwhile, Brownstown had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 30 points) and they went ahead and made it six on Thursday. They were the clear victor by a 68-46 margin over Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg. The Bombers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven matches by 22 points or more this season.

Brownstown found their leader in sophomore Dayana Haslett, who had 28 points. The game was Haslett's fifth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Addie Sasse, who posted 13 points.

Brownstown's victory was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 10-2. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 28.0 points per game. As for Casey-Westfield, their record now sits at 7-5.

Casey-Westfield came up short against Brownstown when the teams last played back in December of 2023, falling 47-40. Can Casey-Westfield avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
