Basketball Recap: Broken Bow Starts Season with Defeat at Home

Broken Bow unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They fell just short of the Kearney Catholic Stars by a score of 57-55 on Thursday. The Indians have struggled against the Stars recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive lost matchup.

Despite the loss, Broken Bow still got an impressive performance from Dominic Nowak, who shot 50% from the field en route to 23 points in addition to eight rebounds and three steals. Another player making a difference was Zachary Jackson, who went 6-for-11 to rack up 15 points and five assists.

Nash Malone was a one-man wrecking crew For Kearney Catholic. as he shot 70% from the field on his way to 20 points. Hunter Key was another key player, going 6-for-12 en route to 13 points and six boards.

Broken Bow has already played their next game, a 73-61 victory against Holdrege on the 5th. As for Kearney Catholic, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 61-32 loss against Northwest on the 6th.
